Description:

Product: Produced from sera of rabbits pre-immunized with highly pure (>98%) recombinant hGalectin-1 (human Galectin-1). Anti-hGalectin-1 specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing immobilized hGalectin-1 matrix.

The polyclonal antibody, affinity purified from rabbit sera, recognizes human Galectin-1 (Gal-1).  The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Gal-1 is expressed by a variety of cells and tissues, including immune and tumor cells.  Gal-1 preferentially binds laminin, fibronectin, CD45, CD43, CD7, CD2, CD3 and ganglioside GM1.  Gal-1 modulates cell growth and proliferation, either positively or negatively, depending on the cell type and activation status, including induction of apoptosis of activated T cells and immature thymocytes.  It also modulates cytokine secretion by inducing Th2 / inhibiting Th1 type cytokines, and has immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory propterites.

WB: Suggested concentration 0.1 - 0.2 μg/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for recombinant human Galectin-1 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/ lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Sandwich ELISA: Use 100 µl/well at a concentration of 0.5 - 2.0 µg/ml. In conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, this antibody detects 0.2-0.4 ng/well of recombinant human Galectin-1.

The optimal concentration should be determined by the user for each specific application.
