Description:

Interleukin-18 (IL-18), an 18 kDa cytokine, is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 157 amino acids. IL-18 was previously known as interferon-gamma inducing factor (IGIF). This pleiotropic cytokine is produced by monocyte/macrophage cells. Like IL-12, IL-18 plays an important role in cell-mediated immune responses.

E. coli

Molecular Weight:

18.3 kDa

Physical State:

Lyophilized

Formulation:

Lyophilized from a sterile filtered solution in PBS.

Purity:

> 98% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses

Biological Activity:

The ED50 as determined by dose-dependent stimulation of IFN-gamma by human PBMC co-stimulated with rh-IL-12 was found to be 5 ng/ml.

Endotoxin Level:

< 0.1 ng/οΨΒg of IL-18

Reconstitution:

Centrifuge vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in ice-cold water to a concentration of 0.5-1 οΨΒg/οΨΒl. The solution can be stored at 4οΨΑC for 1 week. For storage, prepare appropriate aliquots and freeze them at -80οΨΑC for future use.

Storage/Stability:

Store lyophilized protein at -20οΨΑC to -80οΨΑC. Reconstituted protein is stable for 1 week at 2-4οΨΑC. For long term storage, aliquot and store at -80οΨΑC. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
