Recombinant Human Oncostatin M is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 227 amino acids.

Background: Oncostatin M (OSM) is a member of the leukemia inhibitory factor/ oncostatin-M (LIF/OSM) family of proteins. OSM is a secreted cytokine and growth regulator that inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines and regulates the production of other cytokines, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF in endothelial cells. OSM is produced as a preproprotein and is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein.

Reconstitution:

Centrifuge vial prior to opening. Add sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

Storage/Stability:

The lyophilized protein is stable at 2-8°C. Upon receipt, store desiccated at -20°C. After reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-8°C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20°C to -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
