Description:

The serotonin 1B receptor (or 5-HT1B receptor) is a subtype of serotonin receptor (5-HT receptor) that binds the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT). It is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR), coupled to the Gi protein, that mediates inhibitory neurotransmission. It is widely distributed throughout the CNS. Knockout mice lacking the 5-HT1B gene have shown an increase in aggression and a higher preference for alcohol.

The receptor is available in the following formats: stable over-expression cell line, membrane preparation, or purified receptor in HEK293 or CHO. Various tagged versions are available.
