FZD5 encodes the G protein-coupled receptor for Frizzled-5, a receptor for Wnt signaling proteins. The FZD5 protein interacts specifically with Wnt5A to induce the beta-catenin pathway, and may be involved in transduction and intercellular transmission of polarity information during tissue morphogenesis and/or in differentiated tissues. Most of the frizzled receptors are coupled to the beta-catenin canonical signaling pathway, which leads to the activation of disheveled proteins, inhibition of GSK-3 kinase, nuclear accumulation of beta-catenin and activation of Wnt target genes. The receptor is available in the following formats: stable over-expression cell line, membrane preparation, or purified receptor in HEK293 or CHO. Various tagged versions are available.
