Fzd5 encodes the mouse G protein-coupled receptor for Frizzled-5, a receptor for Wnt signaling proteins. The Fzd5 protein interacts specifically with Wnt5A to induce the betacatenin pathway, and may be involved in transduction and intercellular transmission of polarity information during tissue morphogenesis and/or in differentiated tissues. Most of the frizzled receptors are coupled to the beta-catenin canonical signaling pathway, which leads to the activation of disheveled proteins, inhibition of GSK-3 kinase, nuclear accumulation of beta-catenin and activation of Wnt target genes. The receptor is available in the following formats: stable over-expression cell line, membrane preparation, or purified receptor in HEK293 or CHO. Various tagged versions are available.
