GPR55 encodes the G-protein coupled receptor 55. GPR55 is a non-CB1/CB2 receptor that exhibits affinity for endogenous, plant and synthetic cannabinoids. This receptor may be involved in several physiological and pathological processes by activating a variety of signal transduction pathways. It may be involved in hyperalgesia associated with inflammatory and neuropathic pain. It is a receptor for L-alpha-lysophosphatidylinositol that induces Ca(2+) release from intracellular stores via the heterotrimeric G proteins GNA13 and RHOA. It may play a role in bone physiology by regulating osteoclast number and function. An important paralog of this gene is GPR35. The receptor is available in the following formats: stable over-expression cell line, membrane preparation, or purified receptor in HEK293 or CHO. Various tagged versions are available.
