Description:

GALR3 encodes the protein known as Galanin receptor type 3. The neuropeptide galanin modulates a variety of physiologic processes by interaction with specific G-proteincoupled receptors, including cognition/memory, sensory/pain processing, hormone secretion, and feeding behavior. Galanin receptors are seven-transmembrane proteins shown to activate a variety of intracellular second-messenger pathways. GALR3 is found in many tissues and may be expressed as 1.4-, 2.4-, and 5-kb transcripts. Galanin is widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous systems and the endocrine system. Three different galanin receptors (GALR1-3) have been identified. The receptor is available in the following formats: stable over-expression cell line, membrane preparation, or purified receptor in HEK293 or CHO. Various tagged versions are available.
