KISS1R encodes the protein known as KiSS-1 receptor, a galanin-like Gq/G11 proteincoupled receptor which binds the peptide hormone kisspeptin (metastin). Kisspeptin is encoded by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1, which is expressed in a variety of endocrine and gonadal tissues. The kisspeptin receptor plays a key role in the neuroendocrine control of the gonadotrophin axis. Mutations in this gene have been associated with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and central precocious puberty. The receptor is available in the following formats: stable over-expression cell line, membrane preparation, or purified receptor in HEK293 or CHO. Various tagged versions are available.
