LTB4R encodes the protein known as Leukotriene B4 receptor 1. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. Leukotriene receptors are activated by the endogenous ligand leukotriene, a lipid mediator synthesized from arachidonic acid by lipoxygenase enzymes. These receptors are important in inflammatory signaling pathways. LTB4-R1 is a receptor for LTB4, a potent chemoattractant involved in inflammation and immune response, and it may be the cardiac P2Y receptor involved in the regulation of cardiac muscle contraction through modulation of L-type calcium currents. The receptor is available in the following formats: stable over-expression cell line, membrane preparation, or purified receptor in HEK293 or CHO. Various tagged versions are available.
