Description:

Human Fibroblast Growth Factor basic (FGF2) is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members bind heparin and possess broad mitogenic and angiogenic activities. FGF2 is an extremely potent inducer of DNA synthesis in a variety of cell types from mesoderm and neuroectoderm lineages and has been implicated in diverse biological processes, such as limb and nervous system development, wound healing, tumor growth and angiogenesis. Multiple forms of the human protein exist ranging from 18-24 kDa in size due to the use of alternative start sites within the FGF2 gene. Recombinant Human Fibroblast Growth Factor Basic is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 147 amino acids. An alternate form, containing 154 amino acids, also exists, but there is no detectable difference in biological activity between the 154aa and 147aa forms.

Reconstitution:

Centrifuge vial prior to opening. Add sterile distilled water to a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml. DO NOT VORTEX. Allow several minutes for complete reconstitution. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.
