Description:

TNF-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand (TRAIL) is a cytokine produced and secreted by most normal tissue cells. It is shown to be a cytotoxic protein that induces apoptosis in tumor cells through activation of the death receptors, DR4 and DR5. TRAIL has also been implicated as a pathogenic or protective factor in various pulmonary diseases, particularly pulmonary arterial hypertension. Human TRAIL is active on mouse cells.
