Resistin is a peptide hormone belonging to a class of cysteine-rich secreted proteins, the RELM family (REsistin-Like Molecules). It is also called Adipose Tissue-Specific Secretory Factor (ADSF) or Found in Inflammatory Zone 3 (FIZZ3). Mouse resistin is produced by adipocytes and may be an important link between obesity and insulin resistance.
